In the spirit of the holiday season, December’s wine of the month is surely a treat! It’s no secret Colorado Petite Sirah is winemaker John’s favorite and it’s easy to see why. With its deep color and full bodied, fruit forward flavor, Petite Sirah showcases John’s winemaking style at its best!

What is Petite Sirah?
Not to be confused with Syrah, Petite Sirah is its own varietal entirely. Originating in southeastern France, it’s the offspring of Syrah and Peloursin grapes. In France and outside of the United States, Petite Sirah is known as Durif. In the late 1800’s, this grape made its way to California, where growers began calling it Petite Sirah because of its lineage with Syrah and smaller berry size.
 
Take some time to savor and indulge in this luscious Petite Sirah. Inky black in color, you’ll see creamy aromas with flavors of boysenberry and cassis on the palate. As this wine rolls across the tongue, the full body and tannins envelop the mid-palate, lingering long after the finish.
 
The 2022 vintage is a pinnacle across our Petite Sirah’s. Still young, its one of the past decades best expressions of this grape in our style. Chin Don!
