We’ve been working with Teroldego for a few years, but it is a new addition to our tasting room line up. This is the first year we were able to source enough of this grape for a proper release, instead of reserving it for the holidays or special occasions.
Native to the north eastern mountains of Italy, Teroldego thrives at elevations and a climate similar to Colorado. The grapes for our Teroldego were sourced from a vineyard in Palisade which has seen success in cultivating this varietal. Last spring, Winemaker John and his grandsons planted Teroldego in our Denver vineyard due to the promise this grape has shown against dry climates and cold temperatures. It will be 2-3 years before we expect to see a crop, but in the meantime we’ve been swooning over this wine!
Bouncing back and forth between aromas of berries & cream, over to dried herbal flashes, there is a lot of complexity in this Teroldego! The palate has rich flavors of cherry cream soda, but finishes more tart and high toned, giving a duality to this wine you’ll have to taste for yourself.
Cheers!
