Wine Club April 2026 | 2024 Barbera

This month we have selected a new vintage of Barbera!

The Italian varietal is back in the tasting room, and sipping wonderfully this Spring! Grown by Cooper Vineyards in Amador Country, California, these are old vines ripened by the intense inland heat and cooled by the evening and elevation. This translates to a wine that is traditionally very fruit forward and expresses dried fruit flavors. The age of the vine reflects complexity in the form of dried herbs and that classic rustic Italian finish.

The 2024 vintage boasts a hefty 15.5% alcohol, but is absent on the palate. Instead, that ripeness is shown in the dried blueberry flavors that settle and linger on your tongue. Those herbal complexities are scattered throughout the aroma and each sip as you catch flashes of thyme and blackberry flowers. We like releasing the Barbera in Spring, as it maintains structure for early grilled foods or Spring lamb, while also looking back to the hearty dried fruit wines of Winter.

We’re releasing lots of other wines this time of the year, so stop in to taste this new Barbera, as well as new Carignan and our first of two 2025 Rosés!

Cheers!
