Barbera is finally back in the tasting room this weekend! The long awaited and fondly remembered Italian varietal has been absent and sold out for nearly a year. Having a difficult time trimming the wine list for our Annual Harvest Party this past Fall, we unfortunately had to cut the Barbera from our big release day. There are so many amazing wines every year, but we just can’t show all of them in one go! Alas, we’ve kept this gem tucked away long enough. Its time for a little sun, to pack away those winter coats, and ready a glass for some delicious Barbera!
We’ve been making Barbera only since the 2021 vintage, making this our third release! Each iteration has been different in its own ways, but all shared a common expression. Our Barbera are very dark in regard to the fruit flavors. There is no cherry, or raspberry or strawberry sensations here. The Barbera is deep with plum, blackberry and boysenberry. Being such a ripe vintage, this 2023 is very fruit forward, sometimes leaning to even subtly dried fruit, but also picks up interesting aromas of cream and thyme alongside Italian plum. Its texture is balanced, showing medium acidity and an easy going finish. This Barbera is sure to be a favorite in red wine lovers’ glasses this month, and well into the Summer. We hope you enjoy another wonderful vintage of Barbera!
