Brother’s is back! An exceptional vintage of Brother’s Cab! This delicious Lodi grown Cabernet is full of classic flavors of red currant, plum and blackberry flavors. March Feature:
Many of you who have supported Balistreri Vineyards over the last two decades, are undoubtedly familiar with our Cabernet from Brother’s Vineyard. Over the years, it’s always been one of our best options for an affordable, delicious and (of course) naturally made Cabernet. The wine has been out of stock for some time… However, we are happy to announce that Brother’s is Back!
Brother’s vineyard was planted and farmed by John Balistreri’s cousin, Joe Spano. Joe, who was known to the world as “Brother”, always grew delicious grapes that perfectly fit our natural method of wine making. Brother’s vineyard is located in Lodi, part of California’s Central Valley which is a near perfect climate for growing grapes. Cabernet does especially well here, where sunny warm days fully ripen the fruit. Further, sandy soils and cool delta breezes add a bright, playful nature to the finished wine.
Sadly, Brother passed away in 2018 shortly after the vintage was completed. We are honored to release this vintage in his memory as a friend and family member who always believed in tradition and importance of wine in bringing people together. Today, we are pleased to say that the vineyard continues to flourish, and we currently have 2019’s vintage of Brother’s Cabernet and Petit Sirah quietly aging the barrels.
The newly released vintage of Brother’s is one of our favorites ever produced. Indeed, it encapsulates everything we love about naturally made Cabernet. It’s a harmonious marriage of herbal spice and ripened fruit character. Instead of an abundance of oak, the vineyard speaks for itself with classic notes of black current, bramble fruit and a delicate touch of tannin.
