Description

 Cabernet Franc is widely planted here in Colorado but one of the most unique and impressive plantings is that of BBO (Black Bear Orchard). These high elevation vines sit directly in the shadow of Mt Lincoln, while also having the winding Colorado River to the South. With warm days and cool nights, this terroir allows the grapes to mature perfectly. Typically, Cab Franc can be lighter and softer than regular Cabernet Sauvignons… However, our BBO bottling is full of flavor and complexity. On those nose you will notice amazing aromas of roasted spices, chilis and even green pepper. On the palate, this vintage is much fuller bodied than typical Cabernet Francs, but is still smooth and approachable.

Black Bear Orchard is farmed sustainably by owner Brian Cox. Like many of our growers, he favors natural solutions over chemical intervention. For this reason, these grapes work extremely well with our style of wine making. When made naturally, there’s never a chance of mistaking the origin of BBO Franc!
