    • Orange style Chardonnay? You mean, Orange style Chardonnay! Those that know it miss it, those that haven t had it...get ready. This is not your normal Chardonnay! Honey, lemon, roasted tropical fruit on the nose make for an unexpected start, giving familiarity with a hint of subtle sweet white oak. Though this is by no means an oaky Chardonnay, having gone in very old barrels! This allows for transparency in it s fruit expressions, and in this case opens you to pineapple, baked apple and hay. Tasty and unique, it is very rare to see skin contact Chardonnay what a treat!

    • Viognier is the perfect varietal to ferment as an “Orange Wine” because the extended skin contact only accentuates the full and rich body the grape is already known for. Structured and fruit forward, this Viognier has notes of pear and apricot.

    • This Carignan was aged in neutral American oak barrels. Fresh out of the bottle it shows tart plum and raspberry on the nose. As it opens up though the fruit moves more towards a dried or candied fruit with a touch of baking spice. The mouthfeel is very juicy and bursting with cranberry and red flavors. It has a good tannin structure that balances the fruit and riper qualities of the wine beautifully. We personally enjoy these riper styles of wine when they are younger (between 1 and 5 years of age) as they really highlight the bursting fruit flavors and lovely smooth tannin structure.

    • Primitivo - Whoa, tropical fruit! Guava nectar and strawberry swirl from the glass. The palate is giving and offers up bright flavors of peach, nectarine, guava and grapefruit pith. There is certainly dark fruit throughout, but sheltered in a playful tropical perfume. If you’re not familiar with Primitivo, it is the Adriatic equivalent to Zinfandel.

    • The new vintage of Black Zinfandel is a great example of the elegant side of the varietal. There's plenty of fruit, but it maintains a vibrant, exuberant freshness that's often absent in large production examples. Further, it has a subtle tangy spice character that makes it an interesting choice for food pairing. Don't worry though, it tastes great on its own too! This might be the most approachable, easy drinking Zin we've produced so far.

    • The traditional Spanish varietal continues to thrive here in Colorado! Mellow and round aromas of strawberry candy contrast savory loin, chutney, and scone batter as a delightful nuance from the oak. An incredibly diverse wine that remains approachable and medium body on the palate a no brainer for any occasion! Be sure to let this wine open up as the finish gets progressively smoother.

    • Sangiovese - a traditional Italian varietal that we at Balistreri have been producing since our second vintage in 1999! Sourced from old vines in the Amador Country growing region of California, these grapes were crushed and fermented here in Colorado and aged for 2 whole years in the barrel. The extended time in old oak barrels presents rustic sensation of roasted cherries, almonds, fresh earth and tobacco on the palate to this Sangiovese - akin to its classic Chianti counterparts.

    • Petite Sirah -  When we think of Winemaker John Balistreri there are a few specific varietals that come to mind, Petite Sirah  being one of them. He has always loved this grape for its intensity, lush mouthfeel, and ability to age. This 2020 Petite is no exception. John's style focuses on showcasing the fruit that the varietal has to offer, so in this 100% Petite Sirah you wont see oak or other influences. It is delicious intense plum up front and big tannin on the finish. Awesome to drink young but this wine has what it takes for the long haul. Cheers!

    • This Muscat was made in our traditional "orange" style with one exception. Instead of fermenting on the skin for the majority of the fermentation, we pressed it off a bit earlier. This led to a ridiculously fruity, delicious and easy drinking Muscat that is hard to beat in this warm weather. Muscat is known for it's amazing aromatics, and this is no exception. Beautifully layered notes of orange blossom, meyer lemon, honeysuckle and white grape fill out the nose. On the palate, there's a slight richness but finishes with a clean, crisp citrus note.

The nose shows hints of delicious oak with coconut husk, cream, and of course black cherry. Palate explodes with velvet and cocoa, leaving behind the red fruit and swapping for ripe blackberries. A clean expression that is not overdone with oak (6 year old barrels) that keeps with our tradition in making a ripe and powerful Balistreri Cab. Enjoy!
