Current Balistreri Wine List

Below you will find a list of our current featured wine list. They are organized in terms of body with our “white” wines first, followed by lighter reds, bold reds and finally dessert wines.

Our wines are made completely naturally without the use of sulfites or other additives. Only grapes that are hand-harvested are used to make the wine. All of which are selected from high quality single vineyard sites across Colorado and occasionally California. To learn more about our winemaking philosophy, please visit our history page.

    • The new vintage of Black Zinfandel is a great example of the elegant side of the varietal. There's plenty of fruit, but it maintains a vibrant, exuberant freshness that's often absent in large production examples. Further, it has a subtle tangy spice character that makes it an interesting choice for food pairing. Don't worry though, it tastes great on its own too! This might be the most approachable, easy drinking Zin we've produced so far.

    • The traditional Spanish varietal continues to thrive here in Colorado! Mellow and round aromas of strawberry candy contrast savory loin, chutney, and scone batter as a delightful nuance from the oak. An incredibly diverse wine that remains approachable and medium body on the palate a no brainer for any occasion! Be sure to let this wine open up as the finish gets progressively smoother.

    • Sangiovese - a traditional Italian varietal that we at Balistreri have been producing since our second vintage in 1999! Sourced from old vines in the Amador Country growing region of California, these grapes were crushed and fermented here in Colorado and aged for 2 whole years in the barrel. The extended time in old oak barrels presents rustic sensation of roasted cherries, almonds, fresh earth and tobacco on the palate to this Sangiovese - akin to its classic Chianti counterparts.

    • Petite Sirah -  When we think of Winemaker John Balistreri there are a few specific varietals that come to mind, Petite Sirah  being one of them. He has always loved this grape for its intensity, lush mouthfeel, and ability to age. This 2020 Petite is no exception. John's style focuses on showcasing the fruit that the varietal has to offer, so in this 100% Petite Sirah you wont see oak or other influences. It is delicious intense plum up front and big tannin on the finish. Awesome to drink young but this wine has what it takes for the long haul. Cheers!

    • The vintage showcases everything we love about Tempranillo grapes. Full on flavor yet pure, this wine remains easy drinking and fresh. Aromatically, it leaps from the glass with notes of black cherry and ripe plum. There's a subtle minerality on the finish, which is an interesting contrast to the fruit character.
